In Volume I of GRACE, Grace Newberry, a daring young girl shares with us her childhood adventures while growing up on a farm in Virginia with her Grandparents, John and Ophelia.
Summer for me meant clear hot days on the farm. It was always about the fruit, milking cows, picking corn, cool dips in the swimming hole, churning fresh butter and eating warm slices of Grandma’s homemade honey bread.
In our backyard we had fig trees. Every now and then I’d spend countless hours just staring at the blossoming trees full of buzzing bees. Sometimes, I would climb onto a high limb just to pick Grandma Ophelia the ripest fig on the tree.
